India remains the home to the content creator economy and YouTube will continue providing tools, including leveraging AI, to improve their capabilities and help generate more revenues, a senior YouTube official said. Talking to PTI on the sidelines of the first edition of the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit, which started here on Thursday, Gautam Anand, Vice President, YouTube Asia Pacific, said the platform is investing in growing commerce and brand deals businesses. "We remain the home of the creator economy. Over the last three years, we've paid out over Rs 21,000 crore to creators and partners, media companies and music labels here in this market that creates the foundation for the great growth of the creator economy. "I think the numbers show that our goal is to continue to provide the best tools possible, including leveraging AI to improve creation capabilities for our creators and provide them with multiple ways for them to generate revenue," Anand said. Markets regulator Sebi on Wednesday barred three individuals from the securities markets for five years for allegedly misleading investors through YouTube videos to buy shares of Atlantaa. The regulator slapped a penalty of Rs 50 lakh on Manish Mishra and Rs 10 lakh each on Vivek Chauhan and Ankur Sharma. The markets watchdog also directed Mishra and Sharma to disgorge the unlawful gains worth Rs 10.38 lakh that they had pocketed and deposit the amount in the Investor Protection and Education Fund (IPEF) within 45 days of the order. SC says probe against Allahbadia over, to hear passport plea on Apr 28

The Supreme Court on Monday observed the probe in relation to podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia was complete and said it would on April 28 hear his plea for the return of his passport in a case of distasteful remarks in a YouTube show. On February 18, the top court protected Allahbadia from arrest in multiple FIRs filed over his comments during a YouTube show and directed him to deposit his passport with the investigating officer of Police Station Nodal Cyber Police, Thane. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh said it would consider Allahbadia's plea on April 28. During the hearing, solicitor general Tushar Mehta, appearing for Assam and Maharashtra police, said in the Guwahati FIR, the statement of one co-accused would be recorded whereas investigation was complete in relation to the FIR in Mumbai but a chargesheet was yet to be filed. The Supreme Court is slated to hear on Tuesday a plea filed by podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia in connection with multiple FIRs filed against him over his comment on parents and sex on comic Samay Raina's YouTube show "India's Got Latent". A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh is likely to hear the matter. On March 3, the top court had allowed Allahbadia to resume his podcast "The Ranveer Show" subject to maintaining "morality and decency" and making it suitable for viewers of all ages. The order had come after Allahbadia's submission that the podcast was his only source of livelihood and about 280 people he employed depended on the show. Maharashtra Cyber on Monday recorded the statement of comedian Samay Raina in a case registered over objectionable remarks on his YouTube show, an official said. Maharashtra Cyber, a cyber and information security division, is probing the case registered against podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia and others after he triggered a massive uproar with his crass remarks about parents and sex on Raina's web show India's Got Latent. The agency had summoned Raina several times to record his statement in connection with the case, the official said. He said Raina, who recently returned from abroad, appeared before the probe agency at its headquarters in Mhape and recorded his statement. The comedian reached the office in the afternoon, recorded his statement for more than five hours, and left the premises at 6.45, the official said.
