New Delhi, May 03 (ANI): IandB Minister Manish Tewari on Saturday refuted all claims of the ministry limiting the autonomy of Prasar Bharti. Tewari said that the autonomy of the Prasar Bharti is guaranteed by an act of the Parliament and that the IandB Ministry has an arms length relationship with the organization. He also said that it was on his initiative that Sam Pitroda committee was constituted and one of its terms was looking at government- Prasar Bharti relation. Further, on Narendra Modi's claims of freedom of press in India, Tewari said that the ministry too is concerned about the same in Gujarat and will like to look into the matter.
New Delhi/ Lucknow, May 03 (ANI): Samajwadi Party on Saturday hit back at BJP leader Amit Shah for accusing the SP workers of booth capturing in Uttar Pradesh during the ongoing polls. SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav said that it is normal on their part and that whenever someone loses, he/ she make such allegations against others. Meanwhile, party leader Gayatri Prajapati said that the act shows the frustration of the BJP.
Chennai, May 03 (ANI): Congress leader V Narayanasamy on Saturday said that the decision to appoint a judge for the Snoopgate Commission was approved by the Cabinet before the Code of Conduct came into being. He said that BJP's panic shows that there is something fishy in the case. Meanwhile, BJP leader Amit Shah said that the party has no problem with any appointment and that instead of conducting probes in major cases, government is doing this.

He also said that Singh became a victim of his helplessness as he did not have the requisite political power to push it through. Khalilabad, May 02 (ANI): Narendra Modi, the frontrunner of India's prime ministerial race, attacked ruling Congress party saying that the latter wants scams and a divided India, whereas he wants a skilled and digital India. While addressing one of his last election campaign rallies in Khalilabad city of Uttar Pradesh on Friday before the mammoth general election ends on May 12, Modi promised voters employment and a better future. He said that in contrast to Congress, which plays divisive politics, he wants to put India digitally in competition with United States.

He further said that their DNA test should be conducted to ensure if they are Muslims. Politicos have condemned Azmi over the remark.
New Delhi/ Ahmedabad, May 02 (ANI): Political leaders welcomed the government's initiative to approach Allahabad High Court sitting judge to probe into the Snoopgate case. Congress leader Kapil Sibal said that Narendra Modi is terrified by the news. He said that there was no chance of getting any results out of this case wherein the commission is set up by Modi himself. Arjun Modhwadia said that the present commission was a 'Modi saving commission' and that the central government should have appointed the judge long before. Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav said that it is a welcome decision but should have taken place long ago. Meanwhile, CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta also welcomed the move.
Faizabad, May 02 (ANI): While addressing a rally in Faizabad district of UP, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, slammed BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, saying he is talking as if he is already sitting on the throne. Gandhi said Modi was hungry for power and had forgotten that people of India will decide the results, not him.

New Delhi, May 02 (ANI): Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said that if the Congress party is pushed into opposition after a general election, it would give its backing to a major tax reform it tried to bring during 10 years in office. Ramesh criticised BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for blocking the general services tax (GST), which is aimed at easing doing business, raising revenues and boosting growth. Meanwhile, he called Modi a fascist. He said that he always welcomed the dynamic personality of Atal Bihari Vajpayee but was very uncomfortable by Modi's fascist vibes. Ramesh said that Rahul Gandhi was more focused on bringing reforms in the party where he has been working on multiple levels and not just campaigning for 2014 polls.
Rampur, May 01 (ANI): Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Thursday dared Election Commission to cancel his membership if it so desires and said that the panel is not 'God of politics'. He said that he don't want the poll panel's pity and that it can cancel his membership and then see with what margin he wins the polls. He also alleged that the EC had been working for previously for Congress and now for BJP's interests. He also said that the panel is not taking action against Narendra Modi who is violating the model code of conduct, but against him who is speaking for the interests of the Muslim community.
New Delhi, May 01 (ANI): The Election Commission has issued a showcase notice to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for allegedly making a statement asking for funds from people. At an election meeting in Jalandhar, Badal had asked people to give funds to the party secretly for campaigning. The EC, in its notice to Badal, has said, "The Commission is, prima facie, of the opinion that by making such statement you have violated the above said provision of Model Code of Conduct and also incited others to violate the law." The poll body, therefore, has given time till Friday to Badal to explain his stand on his statement.

New Delhi, May 01 (ANI): Politicos across the party line on Thursday condemned the twin bomb blasts at the Chennai Central railway station in which one woman was killed and13 others were injured. The two bombs went off on Thursday in quick succession in two coaches of the Guwahati-Bangalore Express at the Chennai Central railway station. The National Investigation Agency, which usually looks into terror attacks, has sent representatives to collect and examine evidence.
New Delhi, May 01 (ANI): Congress hit back at main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party BJP, citing the World Bank report which enlisted India as third biggest economy in the world. According to a report released by World Bank on April 29, India displaced Japan to clinch the position of world's third biggest economy in terms of purchasing power parity. Targeting BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for his sharp attacks on Congress party and alleging weak economic policies and development fallouts during its terms, Congress leadership retorted back saying the World Bank report is an 'answer' to them. He added that party is not anticipating incumbency threat to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and clarified that he has attended maximum number of election campaigns. Ahmad reaffirmed that India has achieved the feat because of Singh's efforts.
Tirumala / New Delhi/ Ahmedabad, May 01 (ANI): BJP' Prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, blamed the Congress party for registration of a case against him for alleged violation of election rules. The Gujarat administration filed two FIRs against BJP's prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi on orders of the Election Commission (EC) after he delivered a politically charged speech and displayed his party's symbol, lotus, in violation of the poll code soon after exercising his franchise in Gandhinagar. A police complaint was also lodged against TV channels. Meanwhile, Union Law Minister, Kapil Sibal, asked the poll panel not to hand over the investigation to Gujarat police, as it was in favour of Modi.

Lekhi said that India is very clear about not interfering in internal matters of any other country. Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan interior minister, Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, had slammed BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi, over his statement on Dawood Ibrahim and had warned that Modi could become a major threat to regional peace and cooperation. Modi had recently claimed that he will bring back Dawood from Pakistan after coming to power. Meenakshi Lekhi ,asked Pakistan to issue a statement on Dawood's whereabouts.
