Godrej Consumer to relaunch more products

BS Reporter Chennai/ Hyderabad
As part of its renewed marketing strategy, FMCG company Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) is planning to relaunch more products, said GCPL chief operating officer (operations and marketing) RK Sinha.

"Typically, we do just one relaunch per quarter and our next relaunch could probably take place during the next quarter. We are currently working on a couple of brands to launch them afresh," he said, adding that the company's primary focus was on high-growth category " hair dyes.

GCPL, whose portfolio of brands spans across personal care, hair care and fabric care segments, had in 2006 relaunched Godrej Shikakai AmlaPlus conditioning hair soap, the category in which it enjoys a leadership position, and FairGlow soap.

Recently, the company relaunched its premium hair colour brand Renew. The acquisition of Rapidol South Africa in 2006 had given GCPL an over 86 per cent share of the fast-growing South African ethnic hair colour market.

Announcing the relaunch of its Rs 200-crore flagship brand Cinthol including deo range of soaps, talc and deo sprays here on Tuesday, Sinha said the company, the second largest player in the Rs 2,000-crore soap market in the country, expected the Cinthol soaps range to contribute Rs 170 crore to its revenues.

GCPL clocked a turnover of Rs 800 crore last year and expects to close the 2007-08 financial year with revenues of Rs 1,000 crore.
