Momentive invests $20 mn in Chennai facility

US-based specialty chemicals and materials provider Momentive Performance Materials Inc has announced completion of its $20 million investment in its manufacturing facility at Oragadam, near here, with the inauguration of Phase II expansion.

Besides, the company would soon launch its R&D centre and regional headquarters in Bangalore, which is coming up with an investment of $4 million, said VP Nalian, managing director, Momentive Performance Materials India.

With the expansion, the company would supply speciality silicone branded products to various segments including personal care and textile applications, from the facility. The first phase of operations started in 2009. The company had announced an investment of $20 million for setting up the Chennai facility, in 2007.
