Pramod Deo, former chairman of Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has taken over as the new chairman of Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) today.

</p><p class='TableClas'>The CERC is the leading body of state regulatory commissions and sets the regulatory agenda for the country&#39;s power sector. </P>
</p><p class='TableClas'>Deo was today administered the oath of office and secrecy by Sushil Kumar Shinde, union minster of power.&nbsp;&nbsp; </P>
</p><p class='TableClas'>He has served in the Indian Administrative Service for more than 30 years and had joined MERC in 2002 . </P>
</p><p class='TableClas'>He has also worked earlier in ministry of power, Department of Energy, government of Maharashtra, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Asian Institute of Technology. </P></p></table>
