Tata Metaliks, Unichem Lab & Welspun Q2 results

Tata Metaliks net down 58%
 
Tata Metaliks has recorded a growth of 40 per cent in net sales for the quarter ended September 30 to Rs 165.7 crore, with the profit after tax declining by 58 per cent to Rs 4.6 crore.
 
The plunge in net profit is attributed to the increase in cost of raw materials during the last quarter.
 
The company has attributed the drop to excessive production from one of the furnaces in Kharagpur, leading to the surge in the cost of raw materials.
 
For the half year ended September 30, sales increased by 56 per cent amounting to Rs 372 crore. Profit after tax was down by 40 per cent to Rs 15 crore.
 
The quantity of despatched pig iron for the half year increased 51 per cent to 2.08 lakh tonne. The company registered a record production of 2.29 lakh tonne of hot metal, up 51 per cent.
 
Unichem Lab net up at Rs 26 cr
 
Unichem Laboratories has posted 47.25 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 25.71 crore during the second quarter ended September 30 compared with Rs 17.46 crore for the corresponding period of the previous year.
 
The profit before tax for the quarter under review was up by 47.86 per cent at Rs 30.40 crore compared with Rs 20.56 crore last year. The company's sales and operating revenue for the September quarter went up by 16.40 per cent to Rs 149.17 crore from Rs 128.55 crore last year.
 
On the currently employed paid-up equity capital of the company, the earnings per share (EPS) for the second quarter advanced to Rs 7.14 from Rs 5.12 last year.
 
Welspun net up 85% at Rs 34 cr
 
Welspun-Gujarat Stahl Rohren Ltd on Wednesday posted an 85 per cent increase in net profit after tax at Rs 33.5 crore for the quarter ended September 30 as compared with Rs 18.1 crore for the corresponding quarter last year.
 
Total income (net of excise) increased 67 per cent to Rs 674.9 crore for the quarter from Rs 404.5 crore for the same quarter a year ago, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
