Tata Tele pares net loss by 54%

CDMA-based telephony major Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) pared its net loss by 54.13 per cent to Rs 59.17 crore in the third quarter ended December 2006, compared with Rs 129 crore recorded during the same period of the previous financial year.
 
TTML revenues during the quarter under review rose 26.57 per cent to Rs 366.82 crore, from Rs 289.80 crore in the December quarter a year ago. The company's cash profits for the quarter under review rose to Rs 42 crore, from Rs 9 crore in the comparable quarter of the previous year, TTML said in a release.
 
TTML's third quarter EBITDA surged 144 per cent to Rs 83 crore during the December 2006 quarter, from Rs 34 crore in the previous corresponding quarter.
 
The thrust on rural and enterprise markets enabled the company to turn in a robust performance in the third quarter. The total subscriber base crossed 27 lakh, while optimisation of operations was achieved through planned cost control measures coupled with enhanced productivity, it said.
 
A strategic two-level training programme was implemented during the quarter ensuring certification of all employees towards enhancing the quality of customer service.
