Viswas to set up 20 agri hypermarkets

Hyderabad-based agri inputs and services retail chain Viswas Business Synergies Pvt Ltd (VBSPL) is planning to open 20 agri hypermarkets in major cities across the country, including one in Pune, by the end of FY2008-09.

VBSPL has over 310 small retail stores spread over three states - 270 stores in Andhra Pradesh and 20 each in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

"To provide complete farming solutions to the farmers right from technical advice to sale of agri inputs, including tractors etc, the company is planning to open 20 agri hypermarkets in select cities across the country in the current financial year," said company sources.

This apart, VBSPL is planning to enter new areas like procurement of agri produce through contract farming, warehousing and cold storage in the next couple of years.

The company's business turnover is expected to touch Rs 150 crore during the just concluded FY2007-08 and for the current year, it has set a target of Rs 300 crore.
