First Chennai Intl Trade Fair On Dec 27

The first Chennai International Trade Fair 2003 (CITF) is scheduled to be launched on December 27 at Chennai Trade Centre Complex. It would be on the lines of the annual India International Trade Fair held at Pragati Maidan in November .

India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), a co-host of the CITF, is planning similar trade fairs in other important cities like Bangalore, Calcutta and Mumbai.

Announcing the plans for CITF, K S Palanisamy, the managing director of Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation, a co-host of the event, said that the fair would be spread over 6,160 sq meters and was likely to attract over 300 participants.

 

Palanisamy also said that the new convention centre at Nandambakkam, Chennai, developed by Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation was expected to be ready for occupation by the end of December 2003. The convention hall, built with a seating capacity of 1500, is designed to accommodate two functions simultaneously.

The new convention centre is developed at a cost of Rs 27 crore and would be located adjacent to the Chennai Trade Centre Complex.
