Union Bank eyes Rs 3 lakh crore business by March 2010

To recruit 4,000 employees by March

The banking major Union Bank of India (UBI) has set the business turn over target of Rs. 3 lakh crore by the end of the current FY 2009-10.

Moreover, the bank is planning to reach its total number of branches to 3000, by opening 222 new braches across the country, including 40 in Maharashtra, by March 2010.

Presently, the Bank has 2,778 branches across the country and customer base of 3 crore.

“As part of our expansion plans, we are planning to open 222 new branches in the country in the current FY 2009-10. Out of which, around 40 new branches will be opened in Maharashtra,” S P Goel, General Manager, Union Bank of India, told Business Standard.

 

“As our total number of branches will reach 3,000, we expect the business turn over of Rs. 3 lakh crore by the end of the current FY 2009-10. The Bank has achieved the business of Rs. 2.50 lakh crore so far in the current fiscal year,” Goel said.

“With an aim to meet the requirement of more staff due to our proposed bank expansion, we are planning to recruit around 4,000 persons by March 2010,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Bank opened its new branch at Panchavati area of the city. With the opening of this new branch, the Bank now has total 11 branches in Nashik city.
