IIM directors' meeting begins

The meeting of the directors of six Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) began here this morning.

The meeting, being held at the IIM Ahmedabad campus, is likely to take up the proposed controversial issue of reservation for OBCs in central institutes, IITs and IIMs, along with matters like autonomy.

Human Resource Minister Arjun Singh has announced a proposal to implement 27% reservation in higher educational institutions after the elections in five states.

The reservation issue has already met with some opposition from several quarters.
