Jeera futures succumb to profit booking

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Amid profit-booking by speculators and fresh supply, jeera futures prices fell by 0.57 per cent today.

However, depleting stocks and concern that rain at producing region may hit output, restricted losses.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for April contract fell by Rs 100, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs 17,538 per quintal, with an open interest for 16,179 lots.

Similarly, March futures contracts of the spice fell by Rs 96, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 17,085 per quintal, with an open interest of 11,763 lots.

Market analysts said apart from profit-booking after yesterday's gains, increased supply also put pressure on jeera futures prices.
