Markets gained some momentum in the late afternoon trade as index heavyweights such as Infosys and HDFC see some renewed buying interests.
By 2:50 pm, the S&P BSE Sensex was higher by 59 points at 26,024 and Nifty50 gained 27 points at 7,924.
The top gainers on the Sensex are Gail(India), HDFC, Infosys, Bharti Airtel, and Coal India, up between 1%-2% each

Markets continue to trade in range amid lack of concrete directions and December F&O expiry today.
By 1:10 pm, the S&P BSE Sensex was higher by 17 points at 25,977 and Nifty50 gained 7 points at 7,904.
The broader markets are showing a divergent trend with BSE Midcap down by 0.06% while BSE Smallcap is up by 0.2%.
The top gainers on the Sensex are Gail(India), HDFC twins, Infosys, Bharti Airtel, up between 0.7-1.5% each.
The top losers on the Sensex are Adani Ports, Tata Motors, BHEL, Axis Bank, and ONGC, down between 0.7%-1.1% each.

Markets have turned choppy with the benchmark
indices oscillating between the positive and negative zone ahead of the December F&O expiry today.
By 11:40 am, the S&P BSE Sensex was higher by 40 points at 26,000 and Nifty50 gained 16 points at 7,913.
Even the Asian markets are trading sideways without any directions as some of the markets closed for the Year end.
On the currency front, the Indian rupee has weakened 6 paise to quote at 66.45 against the dollar in early trade today on increased month-end demand for the American currency from importers and banks.
Oil prices rebounded in Asia today on bargain-hunting on the last trading day of 2015 following a sharp decline fuelled by an unexpected rise in US commercial stockpiles. US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for delivery in February edged up 15 cents to $36.75 and Brent added 22 cents to $36.68.
Besides, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 152.20 crore yesterday as per provisional data released by the stock exchanges.
STOCKS IN FOCUS
Among the top gainers on the Sensex HDFC Twins, GAIL (India), Infosys, Bharti Airtel have gained between 0.5%-1% each.
Dr Reddy's Laboratories announced the re-launch of its Esomeprazole Magnesium Delayed-Release Capsules, a therapeutic equivalent generic version of Nexium, in the US market. Shares of the drug maker have gained 0.3%.
Slowdown in the steel industry has hit coal block auctions, with the coal ministry cancelling the fourth round till market conditions improve. Shares of Coal India are up almost 1%.
Shares of Cadila Healthcare have tanked 15% after the company received a warning letter from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) relating to its Moraiya formulation facility and Ahmedabad API facility.
Among top losers on the Sensex ONGC, HUL, Axis Bank, Lupin have all slumped between 0.4%-1.4% each.
