Sensex up 49pts; Hindustan Zinc soars 8%

The Sensex is now up 49 points at 9430.

ONGC continues to remain firm with a gain of 2.4% at Rs 1,211.

Gujarat Ambuja is also firm at Rs 90, up 2%.

ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, Reliance Energy, ACC, Bajaj Auto and Ranbaxy are up 1-2% each.

TCS and HDFC are down nearly 1% each at Rs 1,664 and Rs 1,190.

Maruti, SBI, HDFC Bank, Grasim and Tata Steel are also trading in red.

Out of 2,511 stocks traded so far, 1,551 have advanced, 883 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

Hindustan Zinc has surged 7.6% to Rs 317. Engineers India has rallied 6.8% to Rs 943. Bharat Electricals, Dredging, Crompton Greaves, Thermax, Suzlon, J&K Bank, Cadila, MphasiS, Pidilite and Essel Propack have gained in the range of 3-5% each.

Bank of Baroda at Rs 244, SAIL at Rs 54 and Nalco at Rs 235 have declined over 2% each. Jet Airways, Balaji Tele, Andhra Bank, Dena Bank, Vijaya Bank, Syndicate Bank, D-Link, Abbott India, TVS Motors, Alstom Projects, Union Bank, ICI India and Exide are down 1-2% each.
