 The 30-stock BSE sensitive index (Sensex), which moved in a narrow range of around 50 points, rose 32.07 points to settle at 5,030.64. The Sensex hit an intra-day high 5039.20 and a low of 4988.88.

 Meanwhile, the boarder NSE S&P CNX Nifty rose 6.65 points to close at 1,601.15. The market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing losers by nearly three to one amid higher volumes.

 Brokers said the overall mood was, however, cautious, given the high levels of the index.

 Traders were eyeing investments by foreign funds for further direction.
