| Volumes in the derivatives were rather low with the turnover on the NSE in the futures and options segment at Rs 11,519 crore with a total of 2.97 lakh contracts being traded. The total open interest in the market was in excess of 44 crore shares. |
| Index futures recorded a recorded a turnover of Rs 3564.50 crore with open interest outstanding at 1.3 crore shares while stock futures registered a turnover of Rs 6670.60 crore with open interest at 32.50 crore shares. |
| In the futures segment the most active contracts were those of Tata Steel, State Bank of India, Tata Motors, NTPC and Satyam Computers among others. |
| The Nifty February futures closed at 2059.40, a premium of over four points to the spot Nifty closing value of 2055.15 at the end of the day's trading. |
| In futures NTPC ended the day with maximum, open interest outstanding at 6.3 crore shares, Tisco with 2.8 crore shares, MTNL with 1.6 crore shares, IPCL with 1.6 crore shares and RIL with 1.52 crore shares. |
| Cumulative FII positions as percentage of total gross market position in the derivative segment as on February 7, 2005 was 27.09 per cent. |
