Wipro jumps up on bonus deal

The stock of IT major Wipro went up on a surprise bonus issue announcement. The stock was the biggest gainer in the BSE Sensex basket on impressive volumes of more than 10.06 lakh shares on BSE.

After hitting the day's high of Rs 653.90, the stock close at Rs 644.45, up 6.33 per cent from its previous close. Market analysts said, though the results were in line with expectations, the surprise bonus announcement improved the sentiment on the counter.

Wipro announced 1:1 bonus issue. The gains rubbed on other IT socks as well in line with most world markets, brokers said.
