Zinc futures up by 0.60% on short-covering

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Zinc rose by 0.60 per cent to Rs 108.70 per kg in futures trade today, supported by covering-up of pending short positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, zinc prices for delivery in January traded higher by 65 paise, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 108.70 per kg, with a business turnover of 385 lots.

The metal for delivery in December edged up by 60 paise, or 0.56 per cent to Rs 107.55 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,029 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures prices to short-covering by speculators ahead of monthly expiry.
