Greek MPs are set to take a call on whether to accept Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' new tough proposals to secure a third bailout or not in a vote.

The proposals are aimed at preventing a total financial collapse and a possible exit from the eurozone, reported the BBC.

Tsipras is expected to win parliament's nod, despite opposition from the left of his own Syriza party.

A parliamentary spokesman for Syriza, Nikos Filis, said that he was confident that the parliament would give the government the mandate to negotiate a new bailout package.

The ruling coalition occupies 162 seats in the 300-strong parliament and also has the support of many opposition MPs.

Meanwhile, eurozone finance ministers will examine the new proposals, which include pension cuts and tax rises, ahead of a European Union summit on Sunday.
