Energy stocks edge higher

Energy stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 90.39 points or 1.93% at 4778.37 at 09:49 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 13.35%), Gujarat Gas Ltd (up 3.15%),Alphageo (India) Ltd (up 2.76%),Reliance Industries Ltd (up 2.09%),Oil India Ltd (up 1.95%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Petronet LNG Ltd (up 1.79%), Castrol India Ltd (up 1.73%), Aban Offshore Ltd (up 1.65%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 1.62%), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 1.61%).

On the other hand, Goa Carbon Ltd (down 5%), turned lower.

 

At 09:49 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 439.37 or 1.1% at 40311.68.

The Nifty 50 index was up 121.1 points or 1.03% at 11829.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 137.65 points or 0.96% at 14497.65.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 26.06 points or 0.52% at 5003.52.

On BSE,1131 shares were trading in green, 379 were trading in red and 63 were unchanged.
