Metal shares soar

Metal stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index rising 261.66 points or 3.24% at 8333.3 at 09:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (up 5.54%), JSW Steel Ltd (up 4.89%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 3.94%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 3.28%),Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 3%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 2.87%), NMDC Ltd (up 2.18%), Coal India Ltd (up 1.89%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 1.23%), and National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 0.61%).

At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 495.35 or 1.3% at 38639.37.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 177.95 points or 1.6% at 11310.7.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 225.59 points or 1.66% at 13829.55.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 83.04 points or 1.77% at 4785.55.

On BSE,1111 shares were trading in green, 389 were trading in red and 62 were unchanged.
