Metal stocks spurt

Metal stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 221.09 points or 3.48% at 6568.45 at 09:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 5.05%), Tata Steel Ltd (up 4.82%),Vedanta Ltd (up 4.34%),Coal India Ltd (up 4.07%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 2.68%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 2.38%), NMDC Ltd (up 1.96%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 1.34%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 1.27%), and JSW Steel Ltd (up 0.7%).

At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 316.59 or 1.01% at 31706.66.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 63.8 points or 0.69% at 9261.2.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 16.35 points or 0.15% at 11111.54.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 13.67 points or 0.35% at 3913.46.

On BSE,799 shares were trading in green, 749 were trading in red and 70 were unchanged.
