Quick Wrap: Nifty Energy Index records a surge of 1.75%

Nifty Energy index ended up 1.75% at 14091.05 today. The index has lost 1.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd jumped 4.70%, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd added 4.10% and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd gained 3.44%. The Nifty Energy index has increased 3.00% over last one year compared to the 3.50% spike in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Commodities index increased 1.50% and Nifty Pharma index has dropped 1.41% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 recorded a gain of 0.96% to close at 10582.5 while the SENSEX witnessed a rise of 0.95% to close at 35144.49 today.
