Telecom shares slide

Telecom stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 29.22 points or 2.71% at 1050.97 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 5.52%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 4.95%),ITI Ltd (down 3.93%),Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 3.05%),GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 2.33%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 1.58%), Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 1.4%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 1.14%), and HFCL Ltd (down 0.58%).

On the other hand, Tejas Networks Ltd (up 7.47%), Reliance Communications Ltd (up 5%), and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 4.89%) moved up.

 

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 12.05 or 0.03% at 40663.69.

The Nifty 50 index was down 10.5 points or 0.09% at 11988.6.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 10.72 points or 0.08% at 13403.71.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 12.52 points or 0.27% at 4684.57.

On BSE,1079 shares were trading in green, 1281 were trading in red and 192 were unchanged.
