Telecom stocks edge higher
Telecom stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Telecom index increasing 22.08 points or 1.96% at 1148.11 at 09:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 13.25%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 4.81%),Reliance Communications Ltd (up 4.65%),OnMobile Global Ltd (up 3.13%),Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 2.56%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were ITI Ltd (up 2.25%), Tejas Networks Ltd (up 1.89%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 1.7%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 1.37%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 0.75%).
On the other hand, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 3.12%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 1.18%) turned lower.
At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 60.61 or 0.17% at 35695.56.
The Nifty 50 index was up 8.9 points or 0.09% at 10460.35.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 38.77 points or 0.3% at 12809.32.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 3.58 points or 0.08% at 4434.64.
On BSE,924 shares were trading in green, 683 were trading in red and 87 were unchanged.
