Telecom stocks edge lower

Telecom stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Telecom index decreasing 7.63 points or 0.72% at 1048.57 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 4.91%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 4.66%),Tejas Networks Ltd (down 3.11%),GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 2.13%),OnMobile Global Ltd (down 1.73%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 1.72%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 0.65%), ITI Ltd (down 0.63%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 0.5%), and Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 0.5%).

On the other hand, Reliance Communications Ltd (up 4.17%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 0.69%) turned up.

 

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 91.6 or 0.22% at 40912.9.

The Nifty 50 index was up 36.15 points or 0.3% at 12073.85.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 1.8 points or 0.01% at 13409.53.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 6.5 points or 0.14% at 4683.61.

On BSE,1105 shares were trading in green, 1228 were trading in red and 186 were unchanged.
