Three telecom stocks rose by 0.65% to 1.8% at 10:00 IST on BSE after the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology said that the auction of spectrum in 2100 MHz, 1800 MHz, 900 MHz and 800 MHz bands came to an end.
The announcement was made after market hours yesterday, 25 March 2015.
Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 205.88 points or 0.73% at 27,905.95.
Among telecom stocks, Bharti Airtel (up 1.8%), Idea Cellular (up 1.5%), and Reliance Communications (up 0.65%) gained. Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) was flat.
The Ministry of Communications & Information Technology said in a statement issued at the end of the 19th day of bidding for spectrum yesterday, 25 March 2015, that about 89% of the spectrum has been provisionally allocated to bidders at a value of approximately Rs 1.09 lakh crore.
The Ministry of Communications & Information Technology said that the auction of spectrum in 2100 MHz, 1800 MHz, 900 MHz and 800 MHz bands came to an end after 115 rounds of bidding. The bidding took place in all bands.
