Utilties shares gain

Utilties stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Utilities index rising 25.26 points or 1.34% at 1911.45 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Utilities index, NHPC Ltd (up 16.53%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (up 4.91%),Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (up 3.93%),SJVN Ltd (up 2.87%),GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd (up 1.51%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were A2Z Infra Engineering Ltd (up 1.4%), Mahanagar Gas Ltd (up 1.24%), Va Tech Wabag Ltd (up 0.87%), Gujarat Industries Power Co Ltd (up 0.79%), and Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (up 0.68%).

On the other hand, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (down 4.93%), Reliance Power Ltd (down 4.72%), and Rattanindia Power Ltd (down 1.97%) moved lower.

 

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 7.62 or 0.02% at 41937.75.

The Nifty 50 index was up 1.8 points or 0.01% at 12354.15.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 25.71 points or 0.17% at 14734.41.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 3.09 points or 0.06% at 5044.98.

On BSE,888 shares were trading in green, 702 were trading in red and 82 were unchanged.
