Highway blocked over worker's death

The union members and the deceased worker's family blocked traffic on the National Highway-1 by placing the body on road and took out a rally outside hospital, police said.

The factory worker, Ashok Kumar, who was suffering from brain fever, was taken to a local ESI hospital two days ago. However, when his condition deteriorated his family asked a doctor to refer him to Jalandhar, but he declined to do so, saying he will first have to get permission of SMO, the family alleged.

Ashok today died which triggered protest by the union leaders and his family.
