As the Centre's special representative began his five-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir today, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said the hope for resolution of the Kashmir issue through dialogue "has been rekindled" and wished that parties "will not miss" the opportunity to be a part of the peace process.
The Centre has appointed former Intelligence Bureau director Dineshwar Sharma its special representative for talks with various stakeholders in an effort to ensure peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

"I am optimistic that parties and organisations in J&K will not miss this opportunity to be a part of peace parleys," the chief minister said on Twitter.
The Joint Resistance Front, comprising separatist groups including moderate and hardline factions of the Hurriyat Conference and the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), has said it would not meet the Centre's special representative, claiming that the move was was "nothing more than a tactic to buy time" by Delhi.
Sharma reached Srinagar today for a five-day visit to the state during which he will hold talks with various stakeholders.
He will spend three days in the Kashmir Valley and two days in Jammu, where he will hold talks with Governor N N Vohra, the chief minister and various delegations.
In Srinagar, he is expected to meet various political leaders, student groups and youths.
