Bangalore Pr Agency Bags Pata Account

Bangalore-based public relations agency Corporate Voice-Shandwick has bagged the long-awaited Pacific Asia Travel Associations (PATA) account for public awareness in tourism. The Rs 20-lakh account was awarded to the agency earlier this week.

Though the account has been up for grabs for some time now, it was only on August 12 this year that the final presentations were made before the selection committee, headed by PATA-Indias chairman Ashok Pradhan, the director-general of Tourism. The other agencies in the fray for the account included Delhi-based Perfect Relations and Genesis.

According to sources in PATA, The awareness campaigns aim is to get the tourism industry and other related activities its due place in the Indian economy as an important instrument of development.

 

Corporate Voice will be responsible for designing a programme which will be aimed at three categories: the decision makers, bureaucrats in the state and the people at large.

PATA is an association which is responsible for giving a fillip to the tourism industry in the sector and its India chapter looks after the industry in the sub-continent. Some of the major hotel chains like the Oberoi, Welcomgroup and the Taj group, apart from some travel agencies, are members of PATA-India. The director-general, department of tourism, is the chairman of the India chapter.
