Cadila Signs Pact With Us Firm

Cadila Pharmaceuticals, the Ahmedabad-based pharma company, has signed a long-term pact with Mallinckrodt Inc of US for sales & marketing, distribution, R&D, manufacturing and formulation of various products by both companies in markets in various countries including India and the US. Cadila Pharma has a turnover in excess of Rs 300 crore with six manufacturing sites.

It makes bulk drugs and formulations, hospital products, herbal medicines and pharmaceutical machinery.

Cadila exports its products to over 40 countries and has alliances with companies in the US, France, Germany, Australia, Africa and Russia. Mallinckrodt is a $1.75-billion company with operations in more than 100 countries.

 

The latter is a major producer of diagnostic imaging agents, medical devices, pain relief pharmaceuticals, catalysts, microelectronic chemicals and laboratory chemicals.

Mallinckrodt chairman and CEO, C Ray Holman said It is too early to talk of specific products or product lines that will be incorporated in agreements. But we do expect that our medical products, pharmaceuticals and laboratory chemicals business will benefit.

Cadila Pharma chairman, I A Modi, said, The association will strengthen our global operations. Our manufacturing and formulation development expertise will serve as a strong base for Mallinckrodt to rapidly and cost-effectively introduce generic formulations in the US market.
