The National Lesbian & Gay Book Month attracts publishers who range from Random House to Routledge and speciality publishers Firebrand. This year, new titles included The Gay Guide to Los Angeles (published by Fodors), Richard Ekins Male Femaling: A Grounded Approach to Cross-Dressing and Sex-Changing, Paul Hampton Crocketts HIV Law: A Survival Guide to the Legal System for People Living with HIV, Bending the Landscape, an anthology of fantasy edited by Nicola Griffith and Stephen Pagel and Best Lesbian Erotica 1997, edited by Tristan Taormino.
The festival was turning out to be about as successful as any book exhibition is normally, when Tipper Gore complained, saying that there was too much of a focus on sexuality in the books on display. Considering the vast array of legal, self-help, travel and historical books
being hawked during the month, that wasnt precisely true. Even if it had been, though, what did
the lady expect from a Lesbian & Gay Book Month
