Skoda Auto Revises Downward New Sedan Output

Skoda spokesman Jiri Hrabovsky told Reuters the firm's original production target of 5,000 cars may still be reached, but it is more likely to see between 2,000-5,000 Octavias roll off the assembly line this year.

If everything was going the way we expected, we could have produced 5,000 or more Octavias this year, he said.

(Now we expect) between 2,000-5,000, we will see how it goes.

Hrabovsky said the original plan was dampenend by several issues related to installation, deliveries of materials and individual component supplies, and overall organisation.

He said the firm was unwilling to compromise on quality in order to meet its original target despite a possible loss of some clients.
