Union Plea On Pal Fixing Of Worker Output Grounded

BSCAL

The company contended that 95 per cent of the workmen had already given an undertaking and that in view of the continued go-slow for more than two months and on account of incidents of assaults on officers and co-workmen who were reporting for duty during the period, the undertaking was necessary.

The court while disposing of the application said that the company's action of taking undertaking was right particularly in view of the go-slow and assaults. ``Samant's union had also filed another application before the industrial court making an allegation that the company was seeking resignation from the workmen of the AEW Union membership and then only allowing the concerned workmen to report for work after giving the undertaking.

The company vehemently denied this as it had never insisted on workmen resigning from the membership of the AEW union,''it said.

``The union had prayed the Industrial Court that an investigating officer be appointed to observe about the allegation made against the company. After hearing both the parties, the court rejected the application.
