Idea Cellular on Monday clarified that the company was one of the original mobile operators and has merged with Spice communications in a court approved order.
Last week’s Supreme Court ruling of cancelling licenses impacts only those licenses granted in 2008. The licenses of Spice communication were granted in 1995. They have not been cancelled.
“Idea Cellular is a pan-India operator and Punjab is an integral part of the Idea family. We look forward to continuing the Idea journey together,” Idea Cellular said in a statement.
It would “continue to be committed” to provide the best voice and data benefits to its subscribers in Punjab.
“We cover over 96 per cent of the population in the state with over 50 lakh subscribers making us the most trusted and reliable service providers; a fact evident from our rate of growth which is amongst the best in the industry,” it added.
