HP unveils fastest blade solution

| HP has announced the launch of the HP BladeSystem c-Class, the fastest blade system solution for high-performance computing (HPC). |
| The new blade systems will be a first of its kind in the domain of HPC, the technology solutions provider said here. |
| A blade server is a modular computing system in which 'blades' which are self-contained computing systems on single mother boards can be added on racks according to capacity needed and the entire system made to function as a single high powered computer. |
| The HP BladeSystem c-Class delivers up to 20 gigabytes per second bandwidth in each direction. |
| According to a prediction by IDC, enterprises worldwide will spend over $7.2 billion on blade technology by 2008. Blade servers have captured 5 per cent of the more than one lakh servers units sold so far this year in India. |
| "Blade server adoption will continue to accelerate over the next several years, fuelled by higher performance and greater flexibility at lower costs," said Rajesh Dhar, country manager, Industry Standard Servers, HP India. |
| According to the IDC report for the first quarter of 2006, HP leads in worldwide HPC revenue with more than 33 per cent of the overall market share. |
| HP also holds the lead in revenue share for technical computer systems priced at less than $250,000 with a 29 per cent share. |
| It maintains the top position in the divisional market with 35 per cent and 57 percent revenue share for enterprise systems. |
