Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan on Thursday announced that over 2 lakh micro enterprises have received credit-linked subsidy under the PMFME scheme since its launch in 2020 to set up processing facilities with a combined investment of Rs 20,300 crore.
The total subsidy amount provided so far under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme is around Rs 6,000 crore, he added.
Paswan said the PMFME Scheme, which was launched in 2020, has been extended till September this year, and the ministry is considering launching PMFME 2.0 with suitable changes to attract more investments in this sector.
Addressing an event here, Paswan informed that, under the PMFME scheme, there has been sanction of loans to more than 2 lakh micro food processing enterprises during the last six years. He described it as a "historic milestone".
When asked about the subsidy being provided under this scheme so far, he said it is around Rs 6,000 crore.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said the talent shortage in the semiconductor industry is estimated at one million globally, and the IT industry in the country should seize the opportunity.
Speaking at an interaction with IT industry representatives, he said that because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's focused push on the semiconductor industry, 12 plants are now under different stages of development, and three of them have started manufacturing chips.
The chips are being exported to Japan, the US and Europe, he said.
"People say the talent shortage in the semiconductor industry is of the order of one million globally," the Union IT and Electronics Minister said.
The opportunity can be seized by the IT industry in the country in a big way, as it knows how to design and develop entirely new solutions in electronics and IT, he said.
To support the industry, the Centre has provided the most advanced semiconductor design tools to 315 universities, he said.

Food regulator FSSAI on Saturday said it has issued 9 notices to Swiggy Instamart following several consumer complaints, including of alleged supply of rotten and expired food products by the platform.
Instamart is the quick-commerce platform of Swiggy.
In a social media post on X, Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) said it has "issued 9 notices to Swiggy Instamart following multiple consumer complaints alleging violations under the FSS Act 2006."
Consumer complaints alleged the supply of expired, spoiled, rotten,  contaminated and otherwise unafe food products through Swiggy Instamart, the regulator said.
The regulator has directed the platform to submit a detailed explanation and compliance report failing which appropriate legal action will be initiated.

Mandates under the newly announced electric vehicle policy should not be imposed, a transport union said in a letter written to LG TS Sandhu.
In the letter, Delhi NCR Transport Ekta Manch, a taxi and auto union, opposed the mandatory registration of new electric-only autos starting next year.
"At present, there are not enough EV charging stations, battery-swapping facilities, easy financial assistance, affordable loans, practical transition plans, or a clear policy for the safe disposal and recycling of lithium-ion batteries.
"Making EVs mandatory without these basic arrangements would place an unbearable financial burden on lakhs of drivers, small transport businesses and individual vehicle owners," Shyam Sunder, general secretary, Delhi NCR Transport Ekta Manch, said in the letter dated July 9.

India's electric vehicle (EV) components market is expected to expand eightfold to around Rs 3.55 lakh crore over the next seven years, from Rs 41,000 crore in 2025, according to an industry report.
