SC asks MP Raghav Chadha to tender unconditional apology to RS chairperson

The Supreme Court on Friday asked suspended AAP lawmaker Raghav Chadha to tender an unconditional apology to Rajya Sabha chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar on the select committee issue, and hoped that he would take a sympathetic view of the matter. A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra asked Attorney General R Venkataramani to apprise it of the developments in the matter after the Diwali vacation. The CJI said the lawmaker will have to meet the Rajya Sabha chairperson to tender an unconditional apology on the issue. The vice president, in turn, may take a sympathetic view of the entire matter and take further steps in this regard. AAP, BJP engage in war of words after Arvind Kejriwal skips ED summons

A war of words erupted between the BJP and the AAP on Thursday as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal skipped the Enforcement Directorate's summons in a case linked to the alleged excise policy scam saying it was "illegal and politically motivated". The BJP flayed Kejriwal for "running away" from the ED summons and said he does not want to face the truth, while the AAP hit back saying that the summons was "politically motivated". The BJP's Delhi unit also staged a protest at the Rajghat demanding Kejriwal's resignation over the alleged excise policy scam. "Arvind Kejriwal ran away from the ED's summons. He does not want to face the truth.... It won't be an exaggeration to say that the Delhi liquor scam king has accepted that he was involved in liquor scam and corruption," BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra told a press conference here. BJP trying to silence Oppn leaders: AAP on ED raids on party leader

The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday said the ED raids are an attempt by the BJP to silence opposition leaders ahead of the LoK Sabha elections. The party was reacting to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at the premises of Delhi Cabinet Minister and AAP leader Raaj Kumar Anand and some others as part of a money laundering probe, official sources said. In a video message, AAP leader and cabinet minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said even during the British reign, police would go to court to see permission for conducting raids. "But today ED decides to conduct raids on its own. This is a conspiracy to silence the voices of opposition. ED raids Punjab AAP MLA Kulwant Singh; other locations in drugs probe case

The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday conducted searches at multiple places in Punjab, including at the premises of AAP MLA Kulwant Singh, as part of a drugs linked money laundering investigation, official sources said. Locations in Mohali, Amritsar and Ludhiana are being covered by the federal probe agency along with an escort of central paramilitary forces personnel, the sources said.
