The 24th national congress of the Communist Party of India (CPI) begins on Friday in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh with a call to dislodge the (Narendra) Modi government and save the country by showcasing an alternative to the BJP. Given their dominance in the current political scenario, the CPI wants the regional parties to come onto a single platform and defeat the BJP. "Presenting an alternative to the BJP will be the main agenda of our discussions at the party congress. We need to save the country from the BJP and unless we dislodge the Modi regime, there is no salvation," CPI general secretary D Raja remarked on the eve of the congress. The five-day congress will begin with a mass rally and meeting on October 14, followed by the national executive and the national council meetings, according to the time table released by the .
: The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) is seeking to raise about Rs 1,000 crore through monetisation of over 400 acres of its land parcels at different places in the state. While 333 acres of high-in-demand' land will be offered for outright sale, about 45 acres will be given for development of commercial complexes, housing and warehousing projects in public-private partnership (PPP) mode. As per the revenue augmentation plan drawn up by the APIIC, these two ventures are expected to garner Rs 900 crore to the corporation. The APIIC Board has approved the plan. We have now submitted the plan to the state government. Once the government approves it, we will go ahead with the auction of land parcels and also take up PPP projects, a top official of APIIC told PTI. With its operational revenue dipping from Rs 566 crore in 2019-20 to Rs 275 crore in 2021-22, the financial position of APIIC appears shaky. On the other hand, it has many projects lined up for .

The ruling YSR Congress sought to play it safe and the principal opposition Telugu Desam Party chose to remain silent while the BJP attacked the transformation of Telangana Rashtra Samithi into Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Asked about the emergence of BRS, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu merely smiled, and remained mum. K Chandrasekhara Rao, who decided to convert his regional party TRS into BRS with ambitions to play a role in national politics, was once a member of the TDP and worked under Chandrababu Naidu. For the past few days since KCR started working on his new plans, there has been talk that he might seek to draw some of his erstwhile colleagues in the TDP into the BRS-fold to make a presence in Andhra Pradesh. It will, however, be interesting to see if KCR succeeds to make any impact in Andhra Pradesh on which he only spews venom. Interestingly, KCR, who nurtured national ambitions even in 2018, tried to befriend YSRC president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, as part of forging a f

Job aspirants, particularly those seeking to get into executive cadre posts, will have to undergo a personality test as the Andhra Pradesh government rescinded its previous order dispensing with personal interviews. In June 2021, the state government issued an order dispensing with personal interviews for recruitment of staff, calling it a "historic decision" aimed at maintaining "utmost transparency" and ensuring "complete trust" in the recruitment process for government jobs. Recruitment for all categories of government posts was supposed to be done only based on a written examination. But it has now reversed its policy, to do away with the transparent process and bring back the old system, albeit with a new nomenclature called 'personality test.' "The government, after careful consideration of the matter, hereby restores the personality test for higher level posts of Group-1 services for recruiting suitable and meritorious candidates for effective and efficient delivery of publi
