Delhi govt to start cashless medical facility for retired DVB employees

The Arvind Kejriwal government will start a cashless medical facility for over 20,000 retired employees of the Delhi Vidyut Board, Power Minister Atishi said on Saturday. The file for the cashless medical facility was signed on Friday and notification for it will be issued next week after which the scheme will come into effect, the Delhi minister said at a press conference. The Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) will handle the cashless medical facility for employees of Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB) who retired before April 2002. The DVB was unbundled into separate generation, transmission and distribution companies in 2002. The generation companies (PPCL and IGPCL), DTL and the three distribution companies (discoms) will handle the cashless medical facilities of employees working with them, who retired after 2002, Atishi said. CM Kejriwal cannot direct Atishi to hoist national flag on Aug 15: GAD

Amid uncertainty over who will hoist the national flag during the official Delhi government function on Independence Day, the General Administration Department (GAD) here said Tuesday Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is in jail in a corruption case, cannot authorise minister Atishi to do so on his behalf. Delhi govt to bring law to regulate coaching centres, says Atishi

The Delhi government will bring a law to regulate coaching centres in the city, cabinet minister Atishi said on Wednesday, days after three IAS aspirants drowned in the flooded basement of an institute in Old Rajinder Nagar. Addressing a press conference, the minister said the government will constitute a committee comprising government officials and students from different coaching hubs to frame the law. "The law will have provisions for infrastructure, qualification of teachers, fee regulation and preventing misleading advertisements. Public feedback will also be sought," she said. Atishi said the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has cracked down on coaching centres using basements in violation of laws. Delhi water minister Atishi has directed the chief secretary to convene an urgent meeting after complaints of blue foam water coming from taps of houses in Peeragarhi emerged. According to a statement, the situation came to light after a video circulated on social media showing blue foamy water flowing from taps of houses in Peeragarhi. Mentioning the urgency, it was stated, "This could be just the tip of a bigger underlying problem and could have very serious consequences in the future. This needs to be addressed immediately." The minister directed the chief secretary to call an urgent meeting of all senior officials from concerned departments, the statement said. Budget allocation to Delhi stagnates at Rs 1,168 cr; Atishi slams Centre

The allocation for the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) in the Union budget 2024-25, presented in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, remained stagnant at Rs 1,168 crore, the same amount allotted in 2023-24. The AAP government's Finance minister Atishi lashed at the BJP saying no money was given to Delhi neither as share in central taxes, nor as financial assistance to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) despite the city paying Rs 2.32 lakh crore to the central pool. The transfer to Delhi from the Union home ministry included Rs 1,168 crore under the revenue head and Rs 0.01 crore under the capital head, showed the budget document tabled in the Lok Sabha. Saxena on Sunday directed chief secretary Naresh Kumar to keep the transfer orders issued last week in abeyance as an interim measure after a delegation of Delhi BJP leaders and representatives of teachers met the LG in his office. Delhi minister Atishi on Monday directed officials to find solutions for addressing the overflow of a drain, which runs through central Delhi, during heavy rainfall. The drain overflowed following a record-breaking rainfall of 228 mm on June 28, causing waterlogging in nearby areas. Atishi inspected the drain along with senior officials on Monday. "The water of central Delhi goes to Yamuna from drain No 12 near ITO. When Delhi received 228 mm of rainfall on June 28, the drain overflowed and caused waterlogging in the surrounding areas," the senior AAP leader said in a post in Hindi on X. Delhi Water Minister Atishi on Sunday instructed officials to repair the pump house at the Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant that was flooded due to heavy rains and ensure that such problems do not recur. In a post in Hindi on 'X' after inspecting the Chandrawal water treatment plant, she said that unexpected rains flooded the pumping house of the Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant, damaging the motors. "Due to this, (water) supply was disrupted in many parts of Central Delhi. Jal Board has worked quickly to resolve this problem and the plant has almost 80 per cent been repaired. Water the supply will be back to normal soon," Atishi said. "Inspected the plant today and ordered officials to repair the pump house as soon as possible, and with joint inspection ensure that this problem does not recur in any plant in the future," she said. Atishi's hunger strike over water crisis ends after hospitalisation: AAP

Delhi Water Minister Atishi ended her indefinite fast over the water scarcity in the national capital after she was hospitalised early Tuesday, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said. At a press conference here, Singh said Atishi's health deteriorated after being on fast for nearly five days. Her blood sugar level dropped to 36 mg/dL and she was admitted to the LNJP Hospital around 3.45 am, he added. The MP said doctors insisted on her hospitalisation and even warned that her life could be in peril.
