BJP claims victory on 397 seats in Maharashtra gram panchayat polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday claimed to have won a maximum of 397 seats in gram panchayat elections in Maharashtra. The results of the elections held on Sunday for 1,079 Gram Panchayats were declared on Monday. A voter turnout of more than 75 per cent was recorded. The BJP has become the number one party in gram panchayat elections by winning 397 seats. Along with chief minister Eknath Shinde-led 'Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena', the joint rally has reached 478," the state BJP said in a social media post. The BJP has managed to win the post of Sarpanch or village head in 235 villages. The Congress claimed to have won 134 seats, Nationalist Congress Party 110, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) 128 and the 'Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena' 114. BJP to observe 4th anniversary of Congress govt in Rajasthan as 'Black Day'

The BJP in Rajasthan will observe the fourth anniversary of the Congress government on December 17 as 'Black Day' and hold demonstrations in the state's 200 assembly constituencies and district headquarters from next month. The state unit of the BJP has also planned a state-level protest and 'jan aakrosh rally' here in December. The party will hold protests against the state government in November and December, BJP's national general secretary and Rajasthan in-charge Arun Singh said. It will also issue a "black paper" against the alleged failures of the government in its four-year rule. Another BJP leader said that the party has set a target of two to three lakh people for the 'jan aakrosh rally' for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda and other central ministers will be invited.

The recent move by a group of eight Congress MLAs in Goa to merge with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party was as per the constitutional norms, state Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar said. BJP workers offer prayers at Kashi Vishwanath on PM Modi's birthday

BJP workers on Saturday celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday here in Varanasi --- his parliamentary constituency --- by worshipping Maa Ganga' and offering prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath temple. On the occasion, the workers also distributed fruits and sweets, said Kishor Kumar Seth, media in-charge of the party's city unit. Varanasi South MLA Neelkanth Tiwari with workers performed the 'dugdhaabhishek' of Maa Ganga with 51 litres of milk and saffron mixed with water. Workers of Namami Gange' organised a cleanliness drive at the Namo Ghat, and also cut a cake to mark the PM's birthday. At the Manokamna Siddh Hanuman Mandir located in Gilat Bazaar, 'akhand paath' (continuous reading) of Ramayan was held, and a 72-kg cake made using laddoo was cut. BJP's march to Bengal secretariat: Party workers torch car, clash with cops

Parts of Kolkata and Howrah district turned into a battlefield on Tuesday as BJP supporters clashed with the police while trying to get past barricades erected to prevent them from marching towards the West Bengal secretariat Nabanna'. A police vehicle was also set on fire during the march organised to protest against the alleged corrupt practices of the Trinamool Congress government. Several police officers and saffron camp members, including leaders Mina Devi Purohit and Swapan Dasgupta, were reportedly injured during the rally.
