Gujarat logs over 500 new Covid cases after 4 months; active tally at 2,914

Gujarat's daily COVID-19 tally crossed the 500-mark, after 529 people tested positive for the infection on Wednesday, an official from the state health department said. With the addition of the latest cases, the tally of infections in the state has risen to 12,31,483, he said. As many as 408 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the count of recoveries to 12,17,623, while the toll remained unchanged at 10,946, the official said. The state's daily tally crossed the 500-mark in February, with 617 cases being detected on February 18. The state is currently left with 2,914 active cases, with two patients on ventilator support, he said. Of the latest cases, Ahmedabad reported 226 new COVID-19 cases, the highest in the state, followed by Surat with 99, Vadodara 59, Valsad 20 and Kutch 13, among others. Covid-19: Delhi records 1,109 cases, one fatality; positivity rate at 5.87%

Delhi logged 1,109 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 5.87 per cent and one fatality, according to data shared by the health department here on Wednesday. Delhi had reported less than 1,000 single-day infections in the last two days. Wednesday's cases were detected out of 18,886 tests conducted the previous day. With the fresh infections, Delhi's case tally climbed to 19,34,009. The death toll due to the infection rose to 26,261. On Tuesday, Delhi had recorded 874 fresh COVID-19 cases and four fatalities due to the infection, while the positivity rate was at 5.18 per cent. The national capital reported 628 Covid cases and three deaths due to the viral disease on Monday, while the positivity rate was recorded at 8.06 per cent. The health department had not issued a bulletin on Sunday. On Saturday, the city saw six deaths due to Covid while the positivity rate was 7.8 per cent.
