Death toll in Kharghar tragedy between 50 and 75, but govt hiding figures

Even as the death toll due to sunstroke at an award function in Navi Mumbai stood at 14 so far as per the official figures, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday claimed that 50 to 75 people have died in the tragedy, and accused the Maharashtra government of hiding the real number of the deceased. Delhi logged six deaths along with 1,757 new COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 28.63 per cent on Wednesday, according to data shared by the health department here. Shinde govt faces Oppn heat over sunstroke deaths; toll rises to 13

UP: 8 children, 2 women among 11 killed as tractor-trolley falls into river

Eight children and two women were among 11 people killed when the tractor trolley they were travelling in fell from the bridge here on Saturday, police said. The people were on their way to fetch water from Garra river for 'Bhagwat katha', they said. Of the 11 people, eight were children and two were women, Superintendent of Police S Anand said. As many as 24 people have been injured in the incident. Police say five people have been killed in a shooting at a bank building in downtown Louisville and the suspected shooter is also dead. Police say six others were brought to the hospital after the Monday morning shooting.
