The Delhi government is going to conduct an audit of more than 2.6 lakh CCTV cameras installed by the PWD during the previous AAP regime in the city, officials said on Sunday. The principal secretary of Public Works Department (PWD) has sought an audit of the CCTV cameras to ensure their physical verification and functional status, they said. PWD Minister Parvesh Verma recently said in the Delhi Assembly that a probe would be conducted into why CCTV cameras were not installed in eight constituencies represented by BJP MLAs during the previous AAP government. He had also said that CCTV cameras would be installed as a priority in these eight constituencies. A senior Delhi government officer said that the PWD implemented a project to install 2.80 lakh CCTV cameras in various phases and presently 2.63 lakh such cameras were shown installed in records in different assembly constituencies. The CAG reports on finance and appropriation accounts of the previous AAP government in Delhi, revealing non-submission of bills and utilisation certificates worth hundreds of crores of rupees and risk of fund misuse, referred on Friday to the Assembly's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for investigation. The Delhi government on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BIG Institute to offer free crash courses to students for CUET and NEET preparation after Class 12. The agreement, signed between the Delhi Directorate of Education and BIG Institute, will provide free online coaching for NEET and CUET to 1.63 lakh government school students. The signing took place in the presence of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood. Sood said that the programme will begin on April 1 and will include 180 hours of coaching over 30 days, with six hours of classes per day. Chief Minister Gupta said the initiative aims to help government school students secure admissions in medical and engineering colleges. "With this, more and more students from Delhi government schools will get the opportunity to enrol in good colleges and successfully clear entrance exams for medical and engineering programmes," she said.

Delhi government has announced an increase in the monthly financial assistance for senior citizens, raising the amount from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 for those aged 60 to 69, while those aged above 70 will receive Rs 3,000 per month. Presenting the Budget, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the government is committed to strengthening financial support schemes for senior citizens. "The monthly assistance for senior citizens aged 60 to 69 is being increased to Rs 2,500, and those aged above 70 will now receive Rs 3,000 per month," she said. Additionally, senior citizens from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and minority communities in the 60 to 69 age group will receive an extra Rs 500 per month. A total of Rs 3,227 crore has been allocated for these schemes, the chief minister said. The government has also earmarked Rs 20 crore under the 'Grant In Aid (GIA) to Recreation Centres for Senior Citizens' scheme to provide spaces for relaxation and social activities, she added.

The Accountant General (Audit) has urged the Delhi government to set up a portal for real-time monitoring of action taken notes submitted by its departments on CAG reports tabled in the Assembly, officials said on Sunday.
