Delhi flyover 'irregularities': Govt may take call on Lokpal observations

The Delhi government may soon take a call on a recent Lokpal bench order that found six officers guilty of "criminal intent" and "misconduct" in connection with alleged irregularities related to the Rani Jhansi flyover, official sources said on Monday. The Lokpal, in its order passed earlier this month, noted that it can not exercise jurisdiction in the matter as it was time-barred and filed more than seven years after the occurrence of the alleged offence. "We are of the considered view that the Lokpal of India cannot exercise jurisdiction in the matter being barred by limitation. At the same time, we hasten to add that, it is open to the competent authority...and take it to its logical end including criminal proceedings before the competent court in accordance with law, if so advised," said the order by a Lokpal bench. Delhi govt to install 5,000 water ATMs for affordable clean drinking water

The Delhi government is planning to set up 5,000 water dispensing units or ATMs across the city to ensure availability of clean drinking water at low prices, officials said on Sunday. These water kiosks are planned to be set up on a private-public partnership model, focussing on market areas and localities lacking pipelines thereby depending on supply through tankers, they said. Water ATMs are popular in NCR cities including Gurugram and Faridabad. In the national capital also, the New Delhi Municipal Council areas have these facilities. In 2023, the previous AAP government had announced installation of 500 water ATMs in the city, specially in slum clusters. The announcement, however, could not materialise. Some reverse osmosis plants for clean, filtered water were installed in Hari Nagar's Khajan Basti, Shakurbasti, Deshbandhu Apartments in Kalkaji, and Jharoda.

They don't know how to run govt: Atishi blames BJP for power cuts in Delhi

Senior AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Monday accused the BJP government in the city of failing to manage power supply, alleging outages have increased since the party took office last month. There was no immediate response from the BJP over the allegations. Addressing a press conference here, Atishi said, "Before the AAP government came to power, long power cuts were normal in the national capital. Every household used to have inverters. But after Arvind Kejriwal became the chief minister of Delhi in February 2015, power cuts became a history." She cited data presented by the BJP-led central government in Rajya Sabha to say that Delhi received round-the-clock power supply under the AAP government. "The people of Delhi do not need data because they know that for the past 10 years, their inverters were unused, and they didn't have to change batteries. But now, after the BJP formed the government in the city, power cuts are on the rise," she said. "How is it tha
