Musk says he'll create ChatGPT alternative 'TruthGPT' to counter AI 'bias'

Billionaire Twitter owner Elon Musk is again sounding warning bells on the dangers of artificial intelligence to humanity and claiming that a popular chatbot has a liberal bias that he plans to counter with his own AI creation. Musk told Fox News host Tucker Carlson in a segment aired Monday night that he plans to create an alternative to the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT that he is calling TruthGPT, which will be a "maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe. The idea, Musk said, is that an AI that wants to understand humanity is less likely to destroy it. Musk also said he's worried that ChatGPT is being trained to be politically correct. In the first of a two-part interview with Carlson, Musk also advocated for the regulation of artificial intelligence, saying he's a big fan. He called AI more dangerous than cars or rockets and said it has the potential to destroy humanity. Separately, Musk has incorporated a new business called X.AI Corp, accord

Canadian Broadcasting Corp 'pause' Twitter after 'govt-funded media' label

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation paused its use of Twitter on Monday after the social media platform owned by Elon Musk stamped CBC's account with a label the public broadcaster says is intended to undermine its credibility. Twitter labelled CBC/Radio-Canada "government-funded media" the same label that prompted National Public Radio in the US to similarly quit Twitter last Wednesday. Twitter can be a powerful tool for our journalists to communicate with Canadians, but it undermines the accuracy and professionalism of the work they do to allow our independence to be falsely described in this way, CBC spokesman Leon Mar said in a statement announcing the change Monday afternoon. Consequently, we will be pausing our activity on our corporate Twitter account and all CBC and Radio-Canada news-related accounts," the statement said. CBC has sent a letter to Twitter asking the company to re-examine the designation. CBC does not meet those criteria, Mar argued, because it is publicl

Elon Musk's SpaceX calls off first launch attempt of giant new rocket

SpaceX called off its first launch attempt of its giant rocket on Monday. Elon Musk and his company had planned to launch the nearly 400-foot Starship rocket from the southern tip of Texas, near the Mexican border. SpaceX postponed the launch because of a problem with the first-stage booster. No people or satellites were aboard for this attempt. There won't be another try until at least Wednesday. The company plans to use Starship to send astronauts and cargo to the moon and, ultimately, Mars.

SpaceX's Starship gets FAA's clearance for first test flight from Texas

SpaceX has cleared the final hurdle for launching its new giant Starship from Texas as early as next week on a first test flight. The Federal Aviation Administration issued the long-awaited license on Friday. SpaceX announced that Starship the world's biggest and most powerful rocket could soar as soon as Monday. No people or satellites will be aboard the 394-foot (120-meter) rocket. SpaceX will attempt to send the spacecraft atop the colossal booster around the world, from the southern tip of Texas all the way to Hawaii. The first stage will be discarded in the Gulf of Mexico and the spacecraft into the Pacific. No landings will be attempted for this debut. It will be the first launch attempt of a full-size Starship, made of shiny stainless steel and powered by methane-fueled engines. The FAA said SpaceX had met all requirements, including safety and environmental. The license is valid for five years. "We carefully analyzed the public safety risks during every stage of the miss
