Pedro Pascal talks about parallels between 'Star Wars' and 'Game of Thrones'

Actor Pedro Pascal believes that both HBO's epic fantasy show "Game of Thrones" and the "Star Wars" franchise share a similarity -- they both have excelled at creating their own cinematic universes. The 44-year-old actor became a known face in Hollywood after he played Oberyn Martell in the fourth season of "Game of Thrones" in 2014. He will be next playing the lead in the "Star Wars" franchise upcoming Disney+ series, "The Mandalorian". The spin-off show, which hails from Jon Favreau, will bow out later this year. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pascal said the "Star Wars" series have set a benchmark in the industry in creating a cinematic world, which has also taken references from the real world and its issues. This phenomenon has been now topped by "Game of Thrones". "I see enormous parallels between the world of 'Star Wars' and the world of 'Game of Thrones'. 'Game of Thrones' might not exist if not for Star Wars, in the way that this world-building genre (took) ...

Rape not a tool to make character stronger: Jessica Chastain on latest 'GoT' episode

Actor-activist Jessica Chastain took a dig at the makers of "Game of Thrones" for justifying rape and sexual abuse for the evolution of Sansa Stark's character. In the latest episode, Sandor 'The Hound' Clegane tells Sansa (played by Sophie Turner) that had she left King's Landing with him, she would not have faced villains like Petyr 'Littlefinger' Baelish and Ramsay Bolton. To which Sansa said, "Without Littlefinger and Ramsay and the rest, I would have stayed a 'little bird' all my life," she says, using his nickname for her. Chastain, who will next be seen in Turner-fronted "X-Men: Dark Phoenix", took to Twitter Tuesday to call out the HBO series for crediting Sansa's victimisation in order to grow. "Rape is not a tool to make a character stronger. A woman doesn't need to be victimized in order to become a butterfly. The #littlebird was always a Phoenix. Her prevailing strength is solely because of her. And her alone. #GameOfThrones (sic)" the actor wrote. Baelish, through the ...

Priyanka, Deepika realise their fairytale fantasy at Met Gala 2019

Actors Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Deepika Padukone took inspiration from fairytale characters for their 2019 Met Gala red carpet appearance, reminding fans that a little adventure goes a long way in fashion. The two Indian actors interpreted this year's theme for the event, "Camp: Notes on Fashion" in their own way. According to the Met exhibition, the theme is sensibility which encompasses everything from "decorativism" to "the trash aesthetic". Priyanka, who first met husband Nick Jonas at the same event, seemed to have plucked a leaf out of Lewis Carroll's fantasy classic, "Alice In Wonderland" and channelled self expression through a multishaded Dior gown in grey, yellow and pink with Chopard danglers. Some called the look inspired by The Mad Hatter, while others compared it with that of the Red Queen thanks to the bushy curls on which sat a long spiky silver crown. The actor completed the look with grey tinted eyebrows, eyes lined with a white eyeliner, dark maroon lip and ...

'Hellraiser' revival in works, 'Dark Knight' writer David S Goyer to pen script

Revival of Clive Barker's "Hellraiser" is in the making with "Dark Knight" co-writer David S Goyer attached to pen the script. The revival treatment is being given by Gary Barber's Spyglass Media Group and the company will finance, develop, and distribute the film worldwide. Barber said the new "Hellraiser" will be a "loyal, yet evolved reimagining" of the 1987 original, which featured the character of Pinhead. The 1987 horror film was based on Barker's novella "The Hellbound Heart", revolving around the resurrection of Frank (Sean Chapman), who had opened the door to an alternate dimension and had his body torn to pieces. That story led to nine movies as well as many graphic novels and merchandise. "I've been a fan of Clive's work since the original Books of Blood paperbacks and 'The Hellbound Heart' novella. Having the chance to reimagine Pinhead and the Cenobites for a new audience is a nightmare-come-true. Gary is a true fan as well and we're committed to making something dark and

Actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Elisabeth Moss are set to star in Jane Campion's new film "The Power of the Dog". The film is an adaptation of Thomas Savage's novel of the same name, reported Variety. Campion, who won the Academy Award for screenplay for "The Piano", will direct from a script she has adapted. "'The Power of the Dog' is a sublime novel that deserves a life on the big screen. I couldn't stop thinking about the story, it really haunted me. The themes of masculinity, nostalgia and betrayal are an intoxicating mix. "It's also rare to find a story where the themes, the plot and the characters build tension as they reveal each other and even the end is satisfying and unexpected. It will be the first time I've worked with a male lead, which is exciting. Phil is a charismatic and complex character who declares war on his brother's new wife and her teenage son," Campion said. The novel revolves around rich Montana brothers Phil (Cumberbatch) and George Burbank. "Phil is ...
