Elizabeth Banks to anchor ABC game show 'Press Your Luck'

Actor-director Elizabeth Banks is all set to host ABC Network's new game show "Press Your Luck". According to Variety, the show will premiere on ABC on June 12. It is produced by Freemantle. The show will feature three contestants in each episode as they compete for cash and prizes by answering questions and avoiding the WHAMMY, who can take all their winnings. Banks, 45, will also executive produce the show alongside Jennifer Mullin, Max Handelman and John Quinn.

Hollywood celebs remember Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew

Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew passed away on April 30 leaving his on-screen companion Harrison Ford and "Star Wars" teammates Mark Hamill, George Lucas among other Hollywood celebrities heartbroken. Mayhew, who the affable Wookie giant Chewbacca, a friend to Ford's Han Solo, in Lucas' original "Star Wars" trilogy, was 74. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by his family and friends at his North Texas home. In a statement, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Ford said Mayhew dedicated his life to portraying Chewbacca and he will never forget his contribution to the franchise. "Peter Mayhew was a kind and gentle man, possessed of great dignity and noble character. These aspects of his own personality, plus his wit and grace, he brought to Chewbacca. We were partners in film and friends in life for over 30 years and I loved him. He invested his soul in the character and brought great pleasure to the Star Wars audience," the actor said. RK Studios' land in Mumbai acquired by Godrej Properties

RK Films & Studios in Mumbai, the iconic and sprawling location at Chembur which used to be film studio of yesteryear actor and filmmaker late Raj Kapoor, has been purchased by Godrej Properties for real estate development.It was set up by the legendary actor in 1948, a year after India gained Independence from the British Raj.Godrej Properties said on Friday it will develop a mixed-use project at the site. "Spread across 2.2 acres, this project will offer 33,000 square metres (0.35 million square feet) of saleable area comprising modern residential apartments of various configurations as well as a luxury retail experience," it said in a statement.The company did not give value of the transaction but said the site is strategically located on the main Sion-Panvel Road and offers an extremely well-developed social and civic infrastructure with multiple schools, hospitals, retail malls, residential, and commercial spaces in close proximity."This fits well with our strategy of ...

Nicole Kidman to star in 'Nine Perfect Strangers' adaptation at Hulu

"Big Little Lies" star Nicole Kidman will be headlining Hulu's new series "Nine Perfect Strangers". Based on Liane Moriarty's 2018 novel of the same name, the show recently scored a straight to series order from the streaming platform. The story follows a group of city dwellers who attend a 10-day retreat at a health-and-wellness resort and don't know what is about to hit them. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kidman will portray Masha, the woman who runs the remote resort. The 51-year-old actor will also executive produce the series. The show will reunite the actor with her "Big Little Lies" showrunner David E Kelley and executive producer Bruna Papandrea. John Henry Butterworth is penning the series with Kelley and will also serve as co-showrunner. The two will executive produce alongside Kidman, Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, Casey Haver, Per Saari and Moriarty.

PM Modi biopic to release on May 24, a day after LS poll results

Vivek Oberoi starrer biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi is finally set to release on May 24, a day after the counting of votes of the Lok Sabha polls.The film, 'PM Narendra Modi', which was initially scheduled to hit theatres on April 11, was stalled by the Election Commission of India a day before its worldwide release, stating that a biopic like this will affect the level playing field in the elections."After a lot of discussions and keeping the curiosity and excitement about the film in mind we have decided to release the film immediately after the Lok Sabha election results. We are now releasing our film on 24th May 2019," said producer Sandip Singh.Shortly after the EC stalled the release of the film, makers of the biopic had moved the apex court challenging the stay. Cannes adds 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood', 'Mektoub, My Love: Intermezzo' to competition line-up

Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" and Abdellatif Kechiche's "Mektoub, My Love: Intermezzo" are part of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival competition line-up, the festival organisers announced Thursday. The two films have been added to the 2019 Official Selection, according to the festival's official website. Tarantino's film had been expected in the original line-up, unveiled on April 18, but artistic director Thierry Fremaux told reporters that day that the film was not ready.
