According to Variety, Hart will produce the project through his HartBeat Productions and will likely take on the lead role. As per the sources, the project is still in its early stage without a writer or a script. The 1988 original, directed by Richard Donner, was a modern-day retelling of the Charles Dickens novel "A Christmas Carol". In the film, Murray played a greedy TV executive who meets with three ghosts in an effort to regain his Christmas spirit. The dark comedy has since become a cult hit over the years.

Actor Ansel Elgort is all set to headline crime thriller series, "Tokyo Vice", for Warner Media's upcoming streaming service. The studio has handed a straight-to-series order to the project, which is based on Jake Adelstein's non-fiction book of the same name, reported Variety. The book is the author's first-hand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat, detailing his daily descent into the neon-soaked underbelly of Tokyo, where nothing and no one is truly what or who they seem. Elgort, 25, will portray Adelstein, an American journalist who embed himself into the Tokyo Police force to reveal corruption. Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of films such as "Short Term 12" and "Glass Castle", will helm the 10-episode series, while Tony-award-winning playwright J T Rogers is adapting the script from the book. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show is set in the Victorian era and focuses on a crime-fighting trio, led by Matt Berry's Detective Inspector Rabbit, assisted by Susan Wokoma and Freddie Fox. The series is directed by Ben Taylor, best known for Netflix's "Sex Education". Andy Riley and Kevin Cecil have written the show with additional material from Berry. Actor and stuntman Alain Moussi, best known for starring in the "Kickboxer" series, will also feature in the film. The cast also includes Rick Yune, Marie Avgeropoulos and JuJu Chan.
